Mexico’s authorities have dismantled a large methamphetamine production facility in the southern state of Chiapas, capable of making 150 kilos of the drug each day.
The drug laboratory was located on a ranch in a marshy area in the municipality of Huixtla, on the Pacific coast, reports La Cronica.
At the site, the army discovered two tons of methamphetamine, and one ton of precursor chemicals, reports CNN.
The facility was located only 60 km from the border with Guatemala. Authorities estimated that 150 people worked there, but no arrests were made in the raid.
Production of methamphetamine is on the rise in Mexico, despite efforts to ban precursor chemicals in the country, and regional suppliers like El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.
